The Lies Are Still with Us
By Keith L. Anderson
It’s sad to watch how easily believing lies is changing how Americans treat each other. We no longer have the ability to think our way through problems. Actually, America’s thinking through social problems hasn’t ever been on solid ground. America’s lying history has justified violating many people’s civil rights.
I once found myself in a racist situation; leaving me temporarily insane. Afterwards I drove to my bank mad and stood in line. The customer service guy sat there. I asked, “Why don’t you stand and greet me like you did the White guy?” He looked at me. Then he rolled back his wheelchair. I could have sworn I saw him stand. But the evidence said I was wrong. More than ever more Americans no longer recognizing, acknowledging or believing evidence that proves us wrong! That’s dangerous! Atrocities such as slavery, the taking of Indian lands, the reason for America’s internment camps, the reason for racism, the lack of equal rights for women and many other “isms” and “phobias”, are based on lies.
The recent insurrection and destructive actions at our Nation’s Capital are based on lies.
A Factcheck.org article by Lori Robertson, D'Angelo Gore, Robert Farley and Eugene Kiely, posted on January 7, 2021, gives a list of lies politicians were repeating. For instance, “Rep. Paul Gosar of Arizona falsely claimed that “a court found 3% error rate against President Trump” in Arizona’s results. Actually, a state trial court found an error rate of 0.55% in the state’s largest county, which the state Supreme Court said was not enough to question the results.” https://www.factcheck.org/2021/01/factchecking-the-electoral-college-debate/
When American leaders lie, the foundation by which the American people stand upon, crumbles. And, in the ruins will be a fallen nation.
